I love a sweet package and painted brown paper and bakers twine is my all time favorite gift wrap. There are so many possibilities for a little stitched extra on top to finish it off. Some favorites are : woebegone pines, stitched fish, minimalist chickens and little owl ornaments.

The cardinals above are made from the merry wobbler pattern using these modifications.

  1. In years past I’ve made ornaments from Mr. Socks (portraits of family cats), the owl, the stars, and many mice. Everyone has loved them.
    I’m a quilter and make little crazy quilted stars out of scraps and leftover backing and batting from other projects.
    I’m thinking about dressing Miss Thistle as an angel and using her on the tree this year.
    Your creativity is a bright spot for us.
