good morning

morining 5_23

( I worked late last night and left a big mess)

I’ve got stuff to tell you about and no time to tell it.  I’ll be back later with some important topics:

  • collections- new things I’m working on ( including some pieces for Fortuny)
  • my hair – I’ve decided to let it be grey  ( it always has been  – but I stopped dyeing it in december). I’ve got mixed feelings…..
  • Squam ! Just 2 weeks away!
  • My terrarium.
  • And hula hoops.

  1. I am always envious of your fab high ceilings and plaster trim when I see photos! My hair is getting gray (I was hoping for pure white) but I plan to do the tints like my granny used to which made it blue or lavender.

  2. Looking forward to you sharing. I decided to go gray and it took awhile to embrace it but having highlights and lowlights brought in have helped me through the transition.

  3. Getting highlights was the first step and it made me so much more happier. Good luck!

  4. I’ve been grey for years! Actually my mother found my first one when I was 10. I’m always in favour of the natural look, so go for it!

  5. Wow. You are busy. Congrats on the pieces for Fortuny. Always love to see what you’re up to and find it all very inspiring how you reuse these vintage fabrics to make gorgeous new items.

  6. I have already gone grey and grown out all the existing colour…for me the first 2 inches were the hardest because of the contrast between the grey and the dyed brown which was very contrasting…however I don’t regret doing it and I would recommend a bright lipstick on the days when you feel dowdy and generally make up has to be worn if going out.
    It’s very liberating.
Oh almost forgot I use a shampoo for blondes – purple and it’s meant to tone down brassiness but it also helps the grey not looking yellowish.

Hey Ann, grey is good once you get there, hang in there and I can also recommend the shampoo for blondes/greys.I visit always and love your work.

  8. Love the mess, it looks like my place. I’m happy to find your blog, love your creations.

  9. Me teñía el pelo con tintura sin amoniaco, se salía con los lavados, así es que no tuve una transición traumática “teñido-canas”, desde que dejé de teñirme (noviembre) me siento libre y más feliz. Felicidades.

  10. Your work, your home, are beyond inspiring. SO delighted to have found you, and I happily join your swooning fandom.

I have to admit, I am resisting the grey. Not quite ready yet. (-_-)

  11. Have been an admirer of your work for a long time. Your apartment is wonderful, I love seeing these photos! Grey is ok if you can wear it. See what it looks like and then you can decide, you can always change.

  12. I’ve never understood why folks don’t embrace their grey hair. I feel like i’ve earned every single one i have.

p.s. The new owls are spectacular!

Go grey, but make sure you get a good haircut. I’ve had grey hairs since I was about 12, grey patches since my early 40s and am now 60 and nearly completely grey and loving it! I agree with Emma – grey hairs are earned.
    I love your work!

  14. I really like this homey room of yours, and also your work. You are truly an artist. About gray hair…dye jobs tend to look fake so no one is fooled. My husband helped me realize that gray hair is beautiful like silver thread strands. You can relate to those. So forget about it as Al Pacino might say. Thanks for sharing with us all.
