high tension wires – pencil drawing – 2013

That’s the subject  for my year long drawing and painting project.  The place where I grew up, my memories of the place and the experience. I’ve only made a couple rules: it must be two dimensional work on the aforementioned subject and I must post progress here  each and every Wednesday of 2013.  If I don’t work on it  steadily  every Wednesday of 2013 will be pretty humiliating for me.  And that’s the idea, to push myself into the habit of drawing and painting regularly.

Today’s drawing is of the high tension wires (power lines), one  of the far limits of my small self’s territory.  And some things found closer to home – the lilacs, the big pale pink roses and the old gray fence that were  just outside my back door.

  1. Good luck! I hope you’ll remind us for updates at the facebook page – I’ll look forward to seeing how you progress.

    And progress you will.

This should be fun for you!

    all the best,

  2. This is wonderful, Ann. wishing you the best of luck with your creative venture and we’ll be looking forward to every Wednesday of 2013 🙂

  3. Wonderful idea for a year-long project… and a nice complement to your 3-D works. You are prompting and inspiring me to do something similar, perhaps a small painting or collage. I will look forward to seeing your weekly drawing artworks.
my best wishes to you for a wonderful New Year!

  4. Very nice! Good luck! I look forward to Wednesdays at annwood.net !

One of my 2013 goals is to draw a picture every day! Fingers crossed!

  5. I’ve been making a small art quilt each day (well, most days) since 6 march 2012 – just completed the 219th.

the process of doing something regularly was new to me. it’s an important part of my day now and it amazes me how so much in my life has changed as a result – it’s almost magical.

the mantra that came to me as i started the first quilt has become central to all that i do now:

listen allow trust honor let go

I look forward to following what you’ll post each Wednesday!

    Cheers,
    Karen Anne

  6. I love how you made a kind of unattractive visual of power lines, look so pretty with the wildflowers which would be there as well.
Good luck with the once a week event.

  7. What a good idea to get you working on your drawing and painting! My own blog has been neglected and I’m trying to get back into a rhythm. I’ll have to emulate your self-control and get going.

  8. …Power Lines never looked so good. ;o)

…We all could use a lil’ self-discipline and kudos to you for beginning. Maybe this will light a fire under my bum to get going too – Thank you for that! :o)

    …Blessings to you.

  9. It totally reminds me of an area where I go walking with my family sometimes. The industrial look of the lines in what would normally be a “picture perfect” scene has never been an eye sore to me. There is something exciting about the lines in this setting-progress, interconnectedness, energy. I LOVE this picture!

I am looking forward to seeing more! Happy 2013!
