Stitch Captain Charmley! The soldier doll sewing pattern is in the shop now. The pattern includes the doll with two head styles, one with side burns and one without, a bicorne hat and a lined jacket and lots of sweet details.

The way the little lined jacket comes together is a magic trick. Are you familiar with the bag method for making a lined garment? It’s a little bit of a mind bender but works super well. Check out the video to see the construction.

If you have visited here before you know that I’ve been working on this pattern for one millions years.  I’ve never been more excited to finish something and share it.   I love this doll, his expression, his Jane Austen quiet hero-ness and all his details. After the many, many  hours spent on the pattern you would think that I’d rather work on just about anything else today but I’m going to make a soldier – just for fun.

Onward!

  1. So clever ! This pattern for jacket is magical and your Captain so charming ! But I have to realise The Lady first, as soon as possible 🙂

Your soldier is quite charming. The jacket pattern is very clever. I definitely like the skin tone rather than white.

  3. Oooh! I have some silk scraps that I can’t wait to use for this dashing gentleman!
