She’s just 5 inches tall and fits in the palm of your hand. Perfect for a doll house or somebody’s pocket. And she has a tiny wardrobe: dress, reversible pinafore apron, bloomers and camisole – all included in the pattern. And there is an always growing collection free accessories and clothing patterns for the tiny rag doll on my blog – you can find those here.
I recommend hand sewing but some seams can be sewn on the machine if you prefer. Fabric notes: The pattern is designed for light cotton. Skill level is beginners and up you will need Adobe Reader (free) to view this pattern. The PDF (downloadable) pattern includes full sized pattern pieces, lots and lots of detailed step-by-step instructions with color photographs (more than 80) a supply and resource lists and there are magic tips for making very small sewing easy.

Loved making this. Was never a doll person, but HAD to make Miss Thistle. She reminds me to slow down and appreciate all the little good things in life.

Dear Ann,
Thanks for the brilliant pattern(s) and your generosity in sharing them. I’ve made 4 of the tiny dolls in different skin tones, and am continuing to create more, with some variations on the dresses and aprons.

I would say this is for intermediate sewers. This is not for beginners. I struggled! I threw it away half way through because it looked so awful. Very difficult!

Hi Maddy,
I’m so sorry that was your experience. That pattern has been out for years and well received by beginners – hence the classification. I do my best to be accurate.
And I get that “beginner” can be subjective.
If you want to send a photo or have specific questions I’m so happy to help.
Best wishes,
Ann

Hello Ann!
I´ve heard from you, sometime ago, on social media. I´m so in love with your work!
Today I finally bought the pattern of little Miss Thistle. I´m so excited to make her during my summer holidays!
However, I´m not sure if the pattern has the right measurements, meaning we cut the tissue as it is in the paper to make a 13 cm doll, or we have to enlarge it?

Hi Maria,
Thanks so much! The tiny rag doll is tiny- she is just about 5 inches tall- fitting in the palm of your hand. The pattern pieces are full size. I hope you enjoy making the doll!
